Assalamualaikum and greetings!
So, Monday morning. Still got the blues? How's the day been treating you so far? Well, I always treat Monday as any other day; wake up early for Subuh prayer, shower and after I've all suited up, I will have my daily dose of Mineral Coffee to kickstart the awesome day of my life. Sure, there will be ups and downs, but hey, life's too short to be wasted whining and grumbling on our problems. Got problems? Deal with it, then keep your heads up high! That's why before a long and interesting day goes ahead of you, start your morning with full energy and passion. My way, is Mineral Coffee.
So, life is about aims and goals. Students have their life to live, filled with books and classes. For teachers, life is pretty much the same, plus with the paperwork, keying in marks, disciplinary issues and many more. As I'm typing this post, I overheard a teacher expressing about a lot of marks to be keyed in and probably those are the things that make teachers average teachers. What makes the teachers different is probably that we have different set of goals in our life; some would take becoming a teacher as the platform for betterment of the future, while some would take this as their passion for teaching and some would just think that this is their last resort after a series of job interview failures or God's forbid, got fired.
Yes, everyone surely has their own goals and reasons of those. But, in life, we have to face this thing called expectations, which could really really influence on how and whether you achieve your goals. Those readers who are working in a department or office would surely understand this situation; at some point of your working phase, you have to achieve certain standards of performance for some reasons, most probably promotion, pay rise and for better and brighter career future. Mine was kind of a good example on how I have to deal with expectations coming from all angles. I am standing in the middle of the expectation circle, expecting me to this and that. At some point, I feel tasteless, as if I'm working like a robot, fully committing myself serving the people around me.
Everyday, before I'm off to school, I will spend a few minutes standing in front of the mirror, after putting some hair gum on, asking myself of what kind of people I want to be today. Like this morning, I told myself to be the smiley teacher, not the grumpy teacher which some students thought I looked ugly when I was grumpy. Some other words that I always say to myself in front of the mirror are:

Some other words that I always say to myself in front of the mirror are:
"You are dynamic!"
"You are handsome!"
"You are strong, motivated and spirited! You can do it!"
"Keep smiling because that's your best quality"
I have goals. Achieveable? Only Allah knows. All I know is I have to work and earn it, even I have to bend over backwards or burn the midnight oil for the goals to be achieved. I learn how to stop thinking of what people expect me to be because their expectations are not always the way that I want to end up with. I have learned from the Quran, in Surah al-Baqarah:
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." (2:30)
But, the Holy Quran also said that in Surah ar-Ra'd:
Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves (13:11)
So, I want to achieve my goals, I want to be what I want to be and I don't want to follow people's expectation, just because it is always the right way of life or everyone is doing the same thing, so should I.
Well, time is running out, and ask yourself, are you getting closer to what you always dream of?

Assalamualaikum and greetings!
What's up guys? Hope life's treating you perfectly and all is well for everyone. Let us stay positive everyday and if Monday didn't work out quite well for you, you still have Tuesday, Wednesday and up till Sunday at your disposal. Challenges are ever-present in your life undoubtedly, so chins up, hold your heads high and be the one, the sole winner!

Maafkan saya kalau saya silap ye Eyza!
Siapa kenal Jovian Mandagie, angkat tangan!! Haa, kalau nak tau, dia ni local designer yang sedang hot gila sekarang ni. I mean, I'm not really that into fashion and stuff, but I do try to keep myself up with the latest news which covers from sports to fashion, hehe...rasa dalam GLAM pun ramai yang kenal Jovian ni kannn...bawah ni ada gambar Jovian dengan mentor GLAM, Hanis Haizi :)
Jauh betul perginya! Haha, bukan apa, nak cakap yang...Thecupcakecrazy ni pernah terima order cupcakes untuk open house Hari Raya Jovian! What a way to go international! Hehe...
So, my dear readers, I think the beautiful cupcakes designs have already captivated your senses right? Teruja dan terliur tengok cupcakes mereka? Boleh contact terus mereka di laman Facebook mereka dan anda boleh cakap yang "I'm crazy for cupcakes because of Thecupcakecrazy!"

Assalamualaikum and greetings!
I took this wonderful and brief opportunity to wish all Malaysian readers, Selamat Hari Malaysia! Yes, the country has some of their highs and lows, but there are no perfect place or country; as long as we live good and we serve well, we should be living in harmony anywhere we go. After all, we all are born as Malaysians right?

Yes, the country has some of their highs and lows, but there are no perfect place or country; as long as we live good and we serve well, we should be living in harmony anywhere we go. After all, we all are born as Malaysians right?
"Don't ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
John F. Kennedy
This day is to be remembered and celebrated, as numerous achievements and milestones represent the greatness of the country as a whole and we should be proud of it as we are the nation builders, building towards a greater tomorrow in the future. This year, I celebrated the day differently. I am going to complete my second successive year of teaching and I was given the opportunity to land my mark on the school: coaching the basketball team. Next year inshaAllah, I'll be taking over the school basketball club from the current club advisor and I was given the task to coach a team for the Piala Menteri Pelajaran 1Murid 1Sukan Basketball Tournament 2013!
Let me tell you why this achievement is huge and a truly something me and my players should be proud of. First of all, for the first time, the school has their own basketball coach and as per usual, generally in Malaysia, basketball is known best as the Chinese thing, as Malays are known to be fond of football. Basketball among Malays here in my school is not something they have seen back in the previous years, and watching a Malay teacher balling around the court with his silky smooth dribbling and shooting, makes them wonder who is this guy and most importantly, why basketball?
Secondly, the team that I coached for this tournament is fully registered with all Malay players and even better, among the 10 teams competing in the tournament, the team is the only team which players age averagely around 13 to 14! Imagine yourself, an average of 170 cm player, playing against teams lined up with Shaq, Kobe and LeBron! Throwing back in 2008, my first amateur basketball tournament in Subang Jaya, Selangor. I took part in the AND1 Streetball 3-on-3 competition and to our surprise, we were drawn to play against this team called Team Cincai. As lousy as the team name would probably suggest, we were intimidated by the team name as we thought they are as 'cincai' as the name of their team. Watch the video and see for yourself.
So, the team, calling themselves as the Batballs, is braved enough to call for the challenge to play against the more senior players. Setting them up was not much a problem to me, as they all live in the hostel and we played every evening. Training them was quite a pain in the bum, as while we play every evening, we play for fun; the pressure and tension to perform at higher level are not there. After all, they are all boys and they will always be boys.
Yesterday was the tournament, and we were grouped with two other schools; SMK Seri Intan and SMK Kahang. They have never played against each other, and in fact, the tournament was their first real test of the strength, skills and courage in basketball. In short, we managed to progress to the quarter-final after winning and losing once in the Round Robin, but the team fell short to a better and well-organised team. They are bigger, too. Nevertheless, I told them, they have won the challenge, that is to be brave on the court and not afraid of the obstacles and the obvious differences they had compared with other teams. After all, this was only their first tournament and first competitive matches, so they should be proud of it!
I love their passion and spirits for basketball, as they are willing to pay for their own personalised basketball jersey. So, Redzman, Aiman, Shah, Aizaac and Muiz, you guys are still young and still a lot more to be learned. Don't give up and be fearless. Grow up, get up, get big and get tough!
Assalamualaikum and greetings!
While writing this post, I was still lying with the Green Lantern t-shirt I wore last night, under the soft and comfy duvet with the smooth chilling air flowing from the 2-horsepower air conditioner. This is my last day here in Danga Bay, Johor Bahru and I guess I love my weekend here :) I was here to attend the 5th JELTA Conference which was held in M-Suites Hotel, but as the room rates per night are not for me, I had to bunk in at a budget hotel somewhere nearby Danga Bay's Tune Hotel. The hotel's name was Zoom In Boutique Hotel, do check it out!
Our journey comprised of me, Redzman and Aizaac; they are some sort of my bodyguards...ehh, companions while I am here, as I don't want to spend my weekend at the conference alone. So, the journey started after the Friday prayer, then we stopped by at Redzman's crib to get some of his stuffs and we also had our lunch there. His mom cooked a heavenly delicious asam pedas. Mom, I miss you and your asam pedas! Then, we stopped by at Aizaac's to grab his phone and bags, then we were off to JB!
We went straight ahead to JB since I've promised with the hotel manager to arrive there before 5. Upon our arrival, the manager greeted us with a smile and showed us to our room. Much to our surprise, the room was not that bad! Along the way, we talked about how small the small could be like what I've seen in the photos uploaded in the hotel's website. But, this is beyond expectations! The sure must-have things you would expect when you check in at a hotel are there; working air-conditioner, flat-screen TV, hot shower, comfy mattresses and pillows and most importantly, free Wi-Fi! The interior designs totally did not stymied us at all; the colour combination, with the crooked mirror on the wall which I found quite interesting and in every room they have in this hotel, guests will be surprised with the writings on the wall as in to bring in the feeling of uniqueness to the guests. I would love to do the tour around the hotel and see what other rooms got to offer to us!
So, the first morning began on Saturday, and after a cup of fresh Mineral Coffee, I drove to M Suites Hotel for the first morning session. Unlucky for me, the flu struck me as sitting in the conference room was like a few seconds taking your shirt off at the summit of Mount Everest! It was so cold that I forgot to bring my blazer. So, I had to take off early, but I had the opportunity to listen to the talk given by Mr Kalki, who strongly asked not to put his pictures on the Internet because he was already renowned before I even came there.
Ahh, too many words to say, just let the pictures say the thousand words for you readers!

Assalamualaikum and greetings!
Ever since I entered the college, I've been dipping myself into basketball and it has always been passion day and night. I could recall the first day I shot the basketball into the hoop. It was my first weekend in Johor Matriculation College, and on Sunday morning, I was looking for something to steam off the heat after a long week of tiring lectures and tutorials. These limbs had weakened from all those note-writings and bulging unhealthy fat started to appear. So, I went downstairs to check on whatever my peeps were doing.
Then, there was a group of boys shouting "Hey, we need another play to play a game!" Then, I was like, okay, give it a shot. Seriously, it was my first time holding the basketball and I could already feel the adrenaline rushing inside my veins and sounds of the screeching shoes on the court, the sounds of the ball bouncing off the board and the sounds of the ball going through the hoop and the net, gave me some kind of sensation I could not describe how!
So, the game started. Well, I ain't no Kobe Bryant, not even The Professor, so my ball handling was haywire and I was like running around looking for space to receive a ball and shoot like a mad chicken. Then, all of sudden, I stopped at the tip of the D with my back facing the board. Then, my teammate, who was dribbling silkily through the defense, passed me the ball and they were all like "Shoot!" so I shoot.

"Swooooooooosshhhhh..."
"Good job, mate! Well done!"
"Wow, you can actually play and score!"
"Keep it up dude!"
With the board behind my back, I just threw (yeah, it wasn't a proper skilled shot) the ball over my head without looking and knowing where the board is, and we got the three point! I'm not really sure but if I were going to be a legend someday, that is one legendary shot from me that me and my children can brag about for the rest of their life.
You see, it doesn't matter if you are clueless and out-of-grabs, but giving a shot on something is a good start of a brighter future. What matters the most is the start; take a look at the 100m sprint race for example. How the runner starts the race, we could actually predict who's gonna finish first.
Now, I'm 24 and still going strong with my passion. However, good things are to be shared, so as a teacher, now I'm spreading the love to my boys and I'm proud to say they could play and beat the mainstream players. In two weeks time, they will be competing in Piala Menteri Pelajaran District Level Basketball Competition 2013 and sometime around October, they will be participating in the AND1 3on3 Streetball Competition at Berjaya Times Square, KL! Wish us luck!
